Shipping
There are several ways to ship your purchase. We'll be happy to
review the options with you and determine what is best for you. Shipping
charges are the customer's responsibility. All merchandise will be shipped
freight collect.
Option
1: Pick-up at our Production Facility
The
most cost-effective way to get any merchandise is to pick it up directly at our
production facility, located about 45 minutes west of Boston. On-site staff
will gladly assist you in loading your vehicle but will not be prepared to offer
the protective padding you may need to prevent damage in your car. Thick
blankets are excellent buffers; please make sure to bring them along. Also, make
certain your vehicle is large enough to accommodate your merchandise. We will
not be responsible for any damage incurred in shipping. You will be asked to
sign a form (standard for all shippers) saying that you are receiving your
purchase in good order.
Option
2: "Blanket-Wrap" Shipping Service with In-Home Delivery
We
work with several reputable shippers who will blanket-wrap your purchase and
deliver it into your home. It is our experience that this is the safest way to
get your goods from our facility to your home. While a blanket-wrap shipper may
take up to 10 days to get the delivery to you (depending on your location) from
time they pick up from our facility, this option is, in our opinion, the best
way to go. In-home delivery with this type of shipper will run anywhere from
$75 to $150 more than a common carrier (e.g., yellow freight), but the level of
service and standard of security is much higher. To date we have had no reports
of damage from our customers.
Option
3: Box Packaging with Common Carrier Delivery
We
use excellent, professionally designed boxes for chairs and for
rectangular-shaped farm tables. Professionally designed boxes are not available
at this time for all other forms, which cannot be shipped in this matter. These
boxes protect the forms with heavy foam sides so that no edges are exposed to
the outside cardboard. Tables and chairs thus packaged can be shipped out by
common carrier on a palette and usually arrive 3-4 days after pick-up from our
facility.
Common
carrier charges are based on weight, value of order, and
distance.
The
upside of this method is less expensive, faster delivery. The downside is a
higher rate of reported damage. About 7% of our customers who have opted for the
less expensive option report damages incurred by the carrier. Common carriers
are much less careful with goods aboard their trucks and can (and do) incur
damage more easily.
We
will package your items on a palette in strong boxes and shrink wrap it prior to
the truck arriving at our dock. We have occasionally had customers upset to
find that their boxes were penetrated by a palette jack -- or that rough
handling caused some form of damage. While we will assist you in filing a claim
with the carrier, you will be responsible for recovering any damages caused by
the shipper. Be sure to inspect your package and goods at the time of delivery
before the driver leaves.
Common
carriers will not assist you in the off-loading of their 18-wheel truck and will
leave it up to you to do so. A 7-foot, 2-inch-thick table will weigh, with box,
approximately 200 lbs. Make sure you have someone to assist
you.
In
addition to the freight charge, we collect a $125 handling charge for boxing and
palletizing your order. All in all, the cost savings over blanket-wrap delivery
may not be significant. We will be happy to advise you of the safest and most
cost-effective way to deliver your particular order. Contact us with any
